salut!

My apologies for the lack of posts lately. I've been so caught up in getting ready for my holiday that I haven't got around to finishing the millions of DIY projects I had lined up so I've had nothing to post!
I'm literally getting on a plane to London tonight and will be away for a month, but I'll be sure to take some outfit posts. Not that I'll be prancing around Paris in a sequined mini like Lindsey, I'll probably be wearing my extremely attractive thermal long johns in the below zero temperatures so be sure to keep posted!

perplexed

Inspired by Sharday and Gabby's posts on DIY perspex cuffs, I put some of the magical stuff to work this weekend. The project turned out a success and I can't wait to wear these bad boys out soon!

travel essentials

I'm jetting off to Europe in a little over a week now so feeling very stressed and unorganised about everything! After agonising over weather conditions, wardrobe decisions and how many pairs of socks I'll need, I decided there are really only a few things I can't leave the country without:

passport
tickets (plane and CONTIKI!)
notebook
watch
Garnier cleansing wipes
sunglasses (ebay)
mini hairbrush
Kiehl's Creme de Corps
bronzing brush
YSL Rouge in Le Fuchsia
Dior Sun Powder
Clinique Anti-blemish Solutions foundation
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide mascara
Luca's Papaw Ointment
iPhone
iPod
Camera (obviously not featured as it was used to take this photo)

DIY helmut lang inspired jersey mini/maxi

Image: Net-a-porter

A little black dress with a difference.. Detachable 'modesty'!
I made this dress from some black stretch jersey I had lying about. It started off as a simple mini with merely side seams and a slit to slip my head through, with a panel down the back holding it all in shape (almost). Until I came across this wonderful Helmut Lang asymmetric jersey 'maxi'! I was inspired to make a detachable 'side skirt' (not sure what else to call it really), it's just a piece of jersey with a couple of hook and eye fastenings attached. I think it turns the dress from casual to elegant status instantly.

reworked

The best thing about small towns? The op shops! On my recent trip up to Jervis Bay in NSW I found this outrageously bright Gloster shirt dress, thinking it would be an excellent addition to my 'brights' wardrobe. It had pretty horrible sleeves and came down below my knees so I simply snipped off the bad bits to turn it into the perfect lazy summer dress... And would you believe this set me back a whopping $3?! It had a $6 price tag on it, but the lovely ladies running the op shop couldn't justify letting me pay that much for it so they cut the price. I almost burst out laughing!

holiday mode

Some Christmas and new years snaps, including food, pugs, road trips and some of the whitest sand in the entire country. I think this was a summer holiday well spent, next up is a month in the gloriously chilly European winter!
